I am happy, apprehensive, hopeful, and so much more about embarking on this new path.
I chose social work because my life path has weaved me in many different directions and twists and turns that ultimately keep leading me back to a place of loving service. Though I never would have though several years ago I would have taken the traditional path of higher education to achieve this goal, here I am! The system may just need someone like me in the mix.
I have worked in care for children and teenagers with developmental disabilities and challenges helping them go a little bit further in their potential. I have also worked extensively with intentional and cooperative communities and would love to integrate that into my education and future career paths somehow.
One thing to know about me. . . I resist corporate consumer culture as much as possible and can make you a scrumptious meal with ingredients from the garden or the wild.
I enjoy your blog. I think you are being called to social work and are glad you are listening. Are you of native ancestry?
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheila! I am not of native ancestry but strongly identify with many of the teachings and have been involved with sweat lodge communities for about ten years.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are native even though you may not have the blood.
